Fenway International Inc. directors and management from the Company's Philippine office were treated to a fascinating display of native culture on March 9, 2000 at the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Regional Tribal Chieftains and Fenway and its Philippine partners at Punang, Sofronio Espaņola, Palawan.
In attendance and witnessing the Signing were Southern Palawan Congressman and Deputy Speaker of the House Alfredo E. Abueg, Jr., Mayors Iber Chou of Sofronio Espaņola and Eddie Aureno of Quezon, Chairman David Daoas of the NCIP, Region IV NCIP Director Velma Chollipas and 33 Tribal Chieftains. The Ceremony displayed the support for Fenway's Cement Project and evidence of the goodwill between the NCIP, the tribal leaders and their people and Fenway's Palcan Mining Company.
Palcan Mining Corporation will open a Community Relations Office in Punang Sofronio Espaņola when the Company is granted a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) from the jPhilippine Bureau of Mines and Geosciences and an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. These are the last two Regulatory requirements before Fenway can begin the Cement Plant construction phase. Both permit applications are well advanced with most of the requirements for issuing already accomplished.
